AC Shadows Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Event for Thanksgiving

In a bizarre crossover event that defies traditional forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.

Mysterious Questline Revealed

According to the official statement, "A strange meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a new quest, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and terrifying metamorphoses reverberate through the darkness." The plot presents a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine cult.

The questline concentrates on "bizarre trials and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses

The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Unique Items and Additional Material

Players who accomplish the mission will obtain an exclusive katana in addition to multiple objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
• Mikasa costume for Naoe
• Unique arms
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also adds the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe introduces a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "A Puzzlement" also includes a new environmental puzzle that may ultimately shed light on some unresolved questions from the main storyline.

Previous Anime Collaborations

This represents hardly the initial time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with well-known anime properties. The series earlier featured a 2020 crossover story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
